What form does the assessment take?
There are two main assessment elements:-
- Candidates must provide at least two professional testimonies according to a detailed set of criteria.
- Candidate must produce a reflective account which demonstrates their sector knowledge and understanding in relation to practice. The account is broken down into ten sections, each one requiring about 5-700 words.
Candidates must succeed in both assessment elements (one per unit) in order to achieve the qualification. The process is candidate led and motivated throughout and at each stage the candidate is the person in charge of the progress of the award.
How will it be assessed?
Candidates will need to prepare a portfolio containing all the evidence. This will be assessed by an APEL scrutineer who will make a recommendation to an Expert Panel. The APEL scrutineer provides feedback and marks achieved for each candidate for the expert panel. The expert panel checks a sample from each candidate's reflective account and their professional testimony, checking they are content with results from the scrutineer.
Panel then recommends award of qualification.
