Who will use the new qualification?
The new 'Apel' qualification is designed for experienced practitioners who may have been doing the job for many years, but for a range of reasons have not been able to obtain a current qualification. Many people now find that they need to be able to achieve a recognised qualification in order to meet the requirements of the National Day Care Standards.
The qualification is breaking new ground because it is the first time that candidates have been able to achieve a qualification purely by drawing on previous experience and knowledge. The qualification is on the National Qualification Framework at level3 and is recognised by OFSTED and Estyn.
